Day 10

Today is 10 days since Jake’s amputation surgery… and he seems to be doing pretty well. He’s still not running around as he did before, but he has been hopping around all by himself quite a few times today. He really, really wanted to go swimming with me and Wolfie today… but that’s just not possible till after he gets his stitches removed (later this week) and gets the go-ahead from his wonderful vet.

Tomorrow I go back to work, and I’m dreading leaving him alone all day… He will definitely have to wear his E-collar…

The first few times we left Caira Sue alone after her amp we were a mess. Then I realized it…oh, she does the same stuff she did before when we left. She steals the peanut butter off the counter if we leave it out, and mostly she sleeps.

Jake will hopefully sleep all day! I will channel good, calming, non-incision chewing thoughts to your house while you are at work!

We completely understand how you must be feeling with the entire separation anxiety post op. I stayed home with my baron for a week and then luckily family members helped out to watch him during the day. We actually confined Baron in a play pen like crib to prevent him from moving around and getting into things. Not sure he liked it too much but needless to say it worked. Slowly but surely we too are on our way to recovery and enjoying the new adventures to come as a tripawd!

Wow. I don’t think you realize how amazing Jake’s recovery has been, especially since he is not a youngun! Caira Sue also had a quick recovery. But we were not all so obliging to our parents. At day 10, my mom was happy (less worried) if I got up once per day for a few steps to do my business.

If they feel like causing trouble, that’s a good sign. Prior to diagnosis, I should have known Tazzie was sick when he did not steal curry and cheese that someone had left on the counter.

Jake looks awesome. We bought a harness as well, it arrived today. I’m waiting until Polo’s stitches come out next week to try it on.

    Jake really looks good!!
